The ten constituting members who organized our church in 1926 envisioned a ministry that would help them grow in faith and reach people in Bloomingdale with the message of the Gospel. First Baptist Church has grown by following that simple, yet profound, goal of reaching people for Christ and helping them grow as Christians.We are thankful for the heritage they have given to us.
Today we have 400 resident members. The vision is constant. As we grow and build, we continue the effort to impact our community for Christ. As we look to the future our purpose is clear, "We want to know Christ and to make Him known."
We are ordinary people in an extra-ordinary relationship. We are bound together by our love for our Savior, love for one another, our common purpose and our faith. We are working together to fulfill our purpose and to follow our Savior's lead to the future.

MINISTER OF MUSIC AND EDUCATION
We welcome Rev. and Mrs. Kevin Gray to our church staff, they bring with them two boys Caleb and Seth. Reverend Gray has came all they way from Texas to be a part of our church family.
Join us as Kevin leads us in song and worship on Sunday mornings, evenings, and Wednesday night. Kevin brings a beautiful mix of traditional and contemporary praise music to our worship experience. Kevin believes that next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise. The gift of language combined with music has been given to us so that we may praise and worship our Lord God. It is a powerful way to communicate the joy, hope, and comfort we have in Christ. There are many opportunities to serve through music at our church. Join us as we sing a new song unto the Lord.

YOUTH MINISTER
Brother Mitch is our Youth Minister and has been attending First Baptist for 20 years. Mitch has fulfilled this position for over 2 years now and is well loved by all of our youth.Brother Jernigan is married to Angelia Jernigan, who for many years has guided and led our music program as interim Music Director. Angelia is also a school teacher in Effingham county and loves working with Mitch with the youth program.
The youth group meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 in the social hall following our country buffet dinner.
The youth program is all about fun, fellowship, and bible study. Brother Mitch presents God's word in a way that young people can relate and apply to their everyday lives. It is Brother Jernigans desire that all of the students know Christ so that they can be instrumental in leading others to our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Merits: Brother Mitch is a 1984 graduate of Brewton-Parker College with a Associate of Arts degree.
